I went to Halal Ramen Naniwaya to provide honest reviews from a traveler’s perspective, covering aspects such as taste, whether it’s traveler-friendly or not, price, and more.
Use this guide when considering a visit to Halal Ramen Naniwaya.
Traveler-friendly
Halal Ramen Naniwaya is a popular ramen shop visited by many travelers. The menu and in-store instructions are available in English and other languages, making it very traveler-friendly. The restaurant offers both table and counter seating, accommodating everyone from solo diners to families.
In Japan, halal and vegetarian food options are still not widely recognized, and there are relatively few places that serve them. However, Naniwaya stands out with its commitment to halal-certified ingredients and various efforts to ensure a welcoming environment for travelers.
Food review
This time, I ordered Special Naniwaya Ramen and 3 pieces of Fried Chicken. I’ll be reviewing these items.
Special Naniwaya Ramen : 1,380 JPY (9.54 USD)
The ramen arrived about 10 minutes after ordering. The soup is soy sauce-based, and its savory aroma stimulates the appetite. The noodles are somewhere between thin and medium-thick, and it seems the restaurant is particular about them, as they are custom-ordered from a factory.
It was my first time trying halal ramen, and it changed my impression completely. The flavor is richer than it looks, giving the impression of a strong soy sauce ramen. It’s slightly salty, but not in bad way—rather, it blends well with the noodles, making it very delicious.
The chicken chashu was also excellent. It was tender, with a slight char that added a savory aroma. There were about three to four slices of the chashu, along with toppings like egg and seaweed, making this a satisfying bowl of ramen.
Fried Chicken : 350 JPY (2.42 USD)
Just as it looks, the fried chicken has a crunchy coating. When you take a bite, the juicy meat inside releases its flavorful juices. It comes with a bit of ichimi spice on the side, which you can add for a change in flavor. It’s a taste that everyone will love, and I highly recommend it.
Price review
This time, the bill came to 1,780 yen. Halal Ramen Naniwaya provides safe and high-quality halal food. As a result, the price is a bit higher compared to typical ramen shops (around 1,000 JPY on average). However, considering the quality and deliciousness of the halal ramen they offer, I’d say it’s worth it.
Average price of Naniwaya : 1,000 – 2,000 JPY (6.91 – 13.82)
Overall evaluation
Halal Ramen Naniwaya is a must-visit spot for travelers looking for high-quality halal food in Osaka. Its convenient location near the Namba and Dotonbori areas, traveler-friendly atmosphere with no language barriers, and commitment to using halal-certified ingredients provide a unique and satisfying dining experience.
While the prices are slightly higher than average, the restaurant’s efforts to offer a variety of ramen and a safe dining option make it worth the visit.
