Food review

This time, I ordered OISHI RAMEN + HALF SIZE FRIDE RICE + GYOZA. Let’s see the truth behind this highly rated bowl of ramen.
OISHI RAMEN

When the bowl is served, the first thing you’ll notice is its size — it’s impressive! Even for someone like me, who has a big appetite, the portion is more than satisfying. The rich, inviting aroma of soy sauce instantly makes your mouth water.
The first sip of the broth is pure comfort. It’s a light, soy sauce-based soup, but with a deep, well-balanced flavor thanks to the combination of vegetables, meat, and that perfectly blended soy sauce. The thin noodles have just the right amount of bite, making each mouthful satisfying and well-matched to the soup.

And here’s what really makes Kamukura special — the generous topping of Chinese cabbage. In many ramen shops, the strong flavors can become overpowering and heavy after a few bites. But at Kamukura, the cabbage softens and balances the flavors, allowing you to enjoy the same fresh, delicious taste from the first bite to the very last spoonful. It’s the kind of ramen that keeps you coming back.
HALF SIZE FRIDE RICE + GYOZA.

he HALF-SIZE FRIED RICE didn’t leave a big impression. It felt like a typical fried rice you might find anywhere in Japan — nothing special. Personally, I prefer a slightly drier, fluffier texture, so it wasn’t quite to my taste.

On the other hand, the GYOZA (dumplings) were a delightful surprise. The crispy skin combined with a juicy filling of garlic, chives, and ground pork was absolutely delicious. Honestly, I hadn’t expected much, but they completely exceeded my expectations. The bold, punchy flavors of the gyoza paired perfectly with the light and gentle taste of the ramen — a match made in heaven.
Price review

My total bill came to 1,370 JPY (9.10 USD). Price-wise, it’s about the same as a typical ramen shop in Japan. Restaurants in tourist areas tend to be more expensive, but since Dotonbori Kamukura is part of a nationwide chain, you can enjoy their ramen at a reasonable, local price.
Dotonbori Kamukra’s Average Price : 1,000 – 1,500 JPY (6.64 – 9.96 USD)
Overall Evaluation
Dotonbori Kamukura offers a traveler-friendly ramen experience with spacious seating, multilingual menus, and English-speaking staff.
The OISHI RAMEN impresses with its rich yet light soy sauce-based broth and generous Chinese cabbage topping. While the fried rice was standard, the gyoza exceeded expectations with its crispy texture and bold flavor.
With reasonable pricing in a prime location, Kamukura is a great spot to enjoy authentic Japanese ramen.
