Let’s dive into the review and see how each dish held up!
Special Omakase Course Review

First up were the appetizers: Assorted Namul, Assorted Kimchi, and Seared Yukhoe.
While Namul and Kimchi are traditionally Korean dishes, these versions had a milder, slightly sweet flavor that seemed tailored for Japanese tastes. The bold spiciness and sesame oil aroma typical of authentic Korean-style sides were noticeably toned down.
The Seared Yukhoe, on the other hand, stood out with its exceptionally fresh beef. The richness of the egg yolk combined with the sweet and savory sauce made for a well-balanced and deeply satisfying starter.

Next came the main meats of the course, including Premium Salted Tongue, Upper Kalbi, Upper Loin, Wagyu Japchae or Simmered Beef Tendon, Upper Harami, Assorted Hormone (2 types), and Assorted Lean Cuts (2 types).
The quality of the meat throughout this course was consistently high, with a great variety that let me experience different cuts from various parts of the cow. This variety added to the overall satisfaction of the meal.

The standout dish for me was definitely the Assorted Lean Cuts. On the day I visited, it featured lean meat from the lower foreleg (elbow area) of the cow. This particular cut was exceptionally tender for a lean meat, almost like a loin, but without the heaviness of fat. The flavor was clean, deep, and umami-rich, delivering a pure beef taste that lingered pleasantly on the palate. Truly an impressive cut.

The final dish of the course was Zabuton, a premium cut from the chuck flap near the rib side of the shoulder. At Counter Yakiniku Ushisuki, it’s served rare and placed atop a bed of white rice—a luxurious closing dish that beautifully encapsulates the essence of Japanese comfort food.
Visually, it was stunning. The presentation alone was enough to leave me speechless—it was one of those dishes you know will be delicious just by looking at it.
Breaking the egg yolk and mixing it with the perfectly seared meat, then scooping it up with warm rice… this is what Japanese soul food dreams are made of.
Though Zabuton is a shoulder cut and can be rich, it didn’t feel heavy at all. In fact, I found myself wanting more. It was a flavorful and satisfying way to end the course, leaving a lingering umami that stayed with me long after the last bite.
Price review
The total cost for this meal was ¥6,600. Considering the quality of the meat, the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the level of service, this price felt incredibly reasonable. At many places, a course of this caliber could easily cost over ¥10,000.
If you’re looking to enjoy a full Wagyu yakiniku course without breaking the bank, Counter Yakiniku Ushisuki offers exceptional value.
Average price of this restaurant : 6,000 – 7,000 JPY (41.68 – 48.62 USD)
Overall Evaluation
Counter Yakiniku Ushisuki near Tenma Station offers an exceptional yakiniku experience for travelers seeking authentic Japanese flavors.
While it may not be the easiest spot for non-Japanese speakers due to the hidden location and lack of an English menu, the quality of the meat, welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding value for money more than make up for it.
From the fresh, well-balanced appetizers to the perfectly grilled premium cuts—and the unforgettable Zabuton rice dish at the end—the entire course was deeply satisfying.
If you’re willing to navigate a few small challenges, you’ll be rewarded with a true hidden gem of Osaka’s yakiniku scene.
